Henry's Rant

1-9-07  So one of the things that Ted Kennedy wants to introduce this legislative session is on the subject of OBESITY.  Is this going to be another example of do as I say not as I do?  There is a song that says something like - if you want to change the world start with the man in the mirror.  Kirstie Allie did it and looks much better.  Fergie did it.  Hey Ted make a public spectacle of your self for the public good.  Get a physical, a personal trainer and hook up with a well known weight loss program and be the public spokesnam for them and show us all how to fight OBESITY.  But that's probably not what you had in mind was it!  You most likely want to put more government restrictions in place to control what kids can eat.  Ted it won't work!  If you tell me I can't eat cookies I will find a way to eat cookies.  What you need to put in place is manditory physical education classes in middle and high school.  One hour a day five days a week, get out and get sweaty, get the heart rate up and burn off some calories.  It's simple, burn more calories than you consume and you will loose weight.  I was in high school from 1965-70 and we had to take PE every semister of every year.  I could eat what ever I wanted and I did not get fat.  For once let's try to pass legislation that will actually be beneficial and not just make some people feel good.  Oh yeah Ted don't forget about the mirror, and start with some low impact exercise - like swimming.

 

1-8-07  Ok this is not an original concept but it is one that needs to be aired out in public for all to see.  When the enemy is CRUSHED in battle you get little resistance in peace.  The Germans and the Japanese did not continue to fight and make trouble for us after WWII now did they?  Why you ask, because we brought the might and will of the supreme Superpower to bear on them and destroyed their military complex so completely that they could not fight back.  Not only did that disable their ability to fight back it destroyed their will to fight back and left a lasting impression on them of the extreme price to be paid for taking on the United States of America.  We need to regain the pride that is our's by being the soul remaining superpower after the cold war.  We need to proudly hold the reigns of the dogs of war, knowing that we control them and their actions, and that we do not unleash them unless the cause is just and right.  We also need to realize that when we do unleash them on our enemy we must not just allow them to run on a longer lease but release them completely to do their job.  The job that we have trained them for and depend on them to do.  To maintain our security at home and our respect around the world where ever our name is spoken.  We truely can be the best ally or the worst foe.  The choice is always there.  

 

 

1-6-07  Yeah let's start with Criminal Immigration, one of our biggest problems in the Southwest if not the entire country.  Let me start by saying that as far as I'm concerned as soon as they step over our boarder without going through all of the proper procedures they are criminals!  Anything that is done from that point forward until they leave again should leave them with no benefit and no recourse!  All taxes, if paid, must not be eligible for return!  No social security paid into the system should be eligible for payment to the Criminal Immigrant!  No child born to Criminal Immigrants in the United States should be considered a citizen and should therefore be deported with the Criminal Immigrant parents when caught!  Since they are not going to be credited with paying into the system they must not be granted the benefits of the system such as State Sponsored medical care beyond what is needed to keep them alive long enough to deport them to their homeland!  Although it is not Comprehensive Immigration Reform, it is a start.
